Optical Illusions

In the optical illusion assignment you were asked to describe optical illusions in a paragraph form. Then you were to compare what you saw in the pictures with what a classmate saw in the same picture.

What did you learn from this experience about how people see things?
What was difficult about this assignment? Why was it difficult and how could the assignment be changed for the better?

  1. People see things differently and how they want to see them. The difficult part of this assignment was comparing with others because you may not have seen the picture in the same way that they did. This assignment could be changes by getting cooler optical illusions.

  2. Not everyone sees things the way that you do. You had to take that into consideration and know that you are not going to have the same things. The difficult thing about this assignment was comprehending what was in the illusion. This was hard because there wasnt a correct answer to what was there.

  3. I learned that people see what they want to see and find a way to miss what could be most obvious.
When I was looking at the castle optical illusion, I wanted to see the differences and similiaritis between the people, which i found, but i somehow found a way to overlook the infinitly rising stairs that were in plain sight.

  4. I learned that people see things somewhat the same, but also different. When it came to simple things in a picture that were obvious to the eye, for example, a brush, mirror, toothpaste, or a bird everyone had the same. But when it came time to explain the picture people had different things to say. Like in one picture, i thought a mirrors reflection could be someone looking into it and thinking about where they wanted to be and thats what the mirror reflected, while someone else thought the door to the house could have been open and you were just seeing out the door by looking into the mirror. The most difficult thing about the assignment was being able to look at the picture in a different way and sort of thinking about and seeing things that weren't necessarily there. I don't necessarily think the assignment needs to be changed, its a great way to see how others see things and think about things compared to your thoughts. :)

  5. In a lot of the optical illusions we on the base all saw the same thing to start out with, we basically all saw the obvious but when you really started to dig deep sometimes you started to see different things and interpret the picture in different ways. This difficult thing about the assignment was to understand what picture the artist was trying to get across/what they were trying to say and trying to understand. This could be changed by like Joe said getting different optical illusions some didn't really seem like the were optical illusions.

  6. People see things different by things that have happened in their past and where they are from. One thing can represent something completely different to someone else. This assignment was difficult because people see things differently. I think this assignment could be improved by talking about the pictures as a whole group to see what everyone else saw.

  7. Everyone sees the different things even looking at the same picture.

The difficulty is that sometimes when we try to fill out what we see, we usually talk with others to "Brain Storming". Which gives more idea for the answer. So when we are gonna find our own answer and to compare with the others, I'm thinking maybe I felt the pressure which I don't know why.

However, if we brain storm together before we have talked about our own ideas, then we might not have shown our first thought for the thing.
